I was lucky enough to have the opportunity of living at 12 Somervell Street not only once, but twice! I'm originally from a smallish town so moving to Brisbane was daunting - such a big, busy city! I had originally been living at another student accommodation in Brisbane though it unfortunately did not work out and I was very unhappy there. Rick and Lynne were absolutely lovely and very understanding of the situation. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had. When I first inspected the house I was blown away. It is so nice inside, very luxurious! It's lovely, new and very spacious with excellent quality appliances and very comfy couches. It also has a huge TV and super fast internet with a huge 150gb of downloads!!! What more could you want? All of these extras are included in the rent which is another added bonus!
One of the main things that impressed me about Somervell St was the location. Brisbane is a big city but this house is without a doubt in a great location. When I first moved to Brisbane I did not have a car so being close to public transport was very important. Somervell is located within a 5 min walk from a train station and bus stops! Very convenient. And by train and bus it's only 15-20 mins to the city. Somervell is also very close to a shopping centre containing Coles and other retailers such as bakery, fruit and veg market, newsagent, post office etc and is only a 5-10 min walk away. The second time I lived at Somervell I was lucky enough to own a car which meant driving to UQ only took 20 mins and driving to Griffith only 15 mins!
Not only is the house lovely, but also the rooms are huge! Each room has all you could need including a desk, wardrobe, bedside table, lamp and of course a super comfy double bed. Another excellent feature is air-conditioning which is a complete lifesaver in some of Brisbane's heat waves! There is also a huge deck with BBQ and a secure double garage.
I would very much recommend 12 Somervell Street to anyone interested in moving to Brisbane and studying. The landlords are absolutely lovely and if there are any problems they are very quick to find a solution. As I stated earlier, I have lived here twice. I would not have moved back if I did not absolutely love the place. I will very much miss living here and I know whoever is lucky enough to live here next will love it too!!

I lived at Somerville for a year while studying at QUT Gardens Point. Somerville is a great place to live, with friendly neighbours and roomies. The house is clean, well presented and big!! It includes everything you could possible want as a student including air-conditioning, dishwasher, oven, big bathrooms, washing machine and dryer. Cutlery and crockery is plentiful and the general living area is awesome.
Not only this but the house is located on a nice quiet street just off Ipswich Road which gives you easy access to the motorway, Ipswich, City and Gold Coast. The house is a 10 min walk from Fairfield railway station and shops and a 5 min walk to Annerley Junction bus stop and shops (both of which have groceries and bottle shops). This house is perfect for those studying/working in the City and a UQ as well as for anyone who does not have a car. The large veranda out the front has great sunsets and overlooks the rooftops of the houses around you as well as being an awesome spot for BBQs and entertaining.
I would strongly recommend Somerville Street to anyone studying at uni. The accommodation is comfortable, quiet and allows you to treat it like your own home unlike the accommodation that uni's provide on-campus.

I was so fortunate to have been able to live at 12 Somervell Street for over a year. I was an international exchange student at QUT and on my arrival at Brisbane I was apprehensive and tired after 2days travelling. My new landlord and landlady were exceptionally welcoming and helpful and made it easy to settle into their accommodation and country.
The house is in an ideal location as it is within a 5minute walk from the bus stop and train station, which is convenient to the city, shops, beaches etc. The house has been recently renovated and is modern and very clean. It is also really well equipped with many extras provided, such as a large television and internet facilities, which were much appreciated by myself and my wonderful housemates.
All rooms are large and comfortable -- in fact they are quite luxurious with all bedrooms air-conditioned and the facilities include a large veranda, secure double garage, spacious kitchens and bathroom areas.
I would strongly recommend 12 Somervell Street to anyone interested in living in Brisbane, with the best landlord and landlady you could possible have.
They made my stay in Australia and particularly in Brisbane memorable and I was so happy at 12 Somervell Street.

Ever since the first time I saw 12 Somervell Street I have loved it. Not only have I lived in a big house with great housemates, I have had so much fun.
The house is a renovated Queenslander, the most common and classical house type in Queensland, and Australia for that matter. Everything is in this house and is new, washing machine, oven, dishwasher, fridge...you name it!
The location might look a little 'away' from the Brisbane downtown, also called CBD, but it is really very close and the train or bus will take you there in about 10-15 minutes. I studied at QUT, Gardens Point campus, and it took me less than 20 minutes to get there, from the time I left our house.
All food stores, banks, bottle shop etc are close and you find a wide variety of shops and restaurants close by.
We bought a car and this helped us a lot since it took us all the way to Whitsundays and back. It is also useful for the weekly shopping, if you don't want to carry your shopping bags.
At 12 Somervell Street there are no bills to pay because everything is included in the weekly rent. Again, no electrical, water, internet bills - everything included in rent. It was GREAT!

The house is located in a very nice area. It only takes about 5 min to walk down to the train station and from there is it about 10 min to the city and QUT Gardens Point. So it's easy to travel to school in the city and because of the new bridge it's going to be much easier to travel to UQ now as well that is located in St. Lucia(just across the bridge). It's also very close to the supermarket in Fairfield so it is easy to go and shop.
Everything in the house holds a very high standard and I promise you will love the sofas and the big teve. I had a lovely time in the house and I hope that other tenants will have that to.
